General Guidelines
Kennings Literary Magazine welcomes submissions of fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, digital art, physical art, and photography.
We accept prose, poetry, and art submissions through the months of August 1st to February 14th. Accepted pieces will appear in our print edition of Kennings, which is published once a year in the spring. While we cannot pay contributors at this time, those who are featured in the journal will receive one complimentary copy. We aim to respond to all submissions within six months but feel free to inquire after a month.
For art and photography submissions, please submit as a high-resolution .jpg file.
Simultaneous submissions are acceptable if prompt notification is given of its acceptance elsewhere. Kennings claims First North American Serial Rights, with rights reverting back to the author upon publication. We ask that if the work is reprinted that you credit it as first appearing in Kennings.
If your piece is accepted into our journal, we would like to have the option to turn your piece into a podcast and put it up on our website! If your piece is selected to be turned into a podcast, you will be notified of when and where your piece will be posted, and any other information surrounding the project.
**Please note that Kennings reserves the right to post your accepted piece to our website.
You can submit up to five pieces of work that corresponds with different categories as long as they follow the guidelines of each category that you are submitting to.
If you have any questions regarding specific submission guidelines, please contact us!
